As the unit is nearing completion of the final project, I am reflecting as I listen to the students debate, discuss, and take on different leadership roles. And that is just it, being leader also requires us to know our roles. It doesn’t matter if we are a teacher, doctor, student, athlete, financial advisor, coach, or even a stay-at-home mom...we are all leaders with different roles. The different roles, help write our stories. Roles that sometimes make us the superstar of a chapter. Roles that sometimes make us play the support system in others.
However, being a great leader, requires us to understand the role we are playing in certain circumstances and situations. And it also requires us to assess our own leadership skills. We also have to decipher whether we lead in a positive or a negative light. So what type of leader are you?
The leader who works hard behind the scene, putting in the extra time to make sure expectations are met.
The leader who is behind the complaining.
The leader who is causing the drama.
The leader who cares only about profits, stats, or minutes in the game.
The leader whose actions speak louder than words.
The encouraging/inspiring leader.
The leader who gladly takes on the supporting role for the good of the team.
The leader who goes outside one’s comfort zone.
The leader who tries and tries again after failing.
The leader who makes a difference.
The humble leader.
What is your leadership style going to be? What is your role going to be?
